Specifications

The project was launched in 2011 and has featured several phases. In connection with an exhibition at the Brænderigården centre in Viborg, Denmark, the idea arose of developing a bollard to illuminate the park area. This was accomplished in dialogue with the Municipality of Viborg, Viborg Energiforyning (Viborg Energy Supply), Viborg Museum of Art, a team of landscape architects and Louis Poulsen. In 2012, the prototype bollard was used for the exhibition in Viborg, and the feedback was so positive that Louis Poulsen decided to take the next step and develop a standard product. The bollard was further optimised with regard to material quality, light distribution and efficiency, and the new product was presented at the 2014 light + building trade fair in Frankfurt, Germany.

The light distribution is directed downward on one side of the bollard. The flared aperture creates an organic shaped light pattern covering nearly 180°. Two COB LEDs are housed in the top of the fixture and are shielded from direct view for glare control. The fixture can be horizontally rotated 20° and locked after the base plate is installed for optimal positioning.
